Microsoft Multiplayer bans - What does this mean for cheating?

In the newest Minecraft update, players breaking the rules can report people in multiplayer services, not to the server admins, but to Mojang.

When Mojang receives the request, there is a chance of the player in question being banned from multiplayer access. This is a blanket ban preventing players from accessing realms and any multiplayer server.

How is this an issue for cheating?
It’s not going to end cheating, but modules like spammer, or mainly spam bots that promote clients, shops etc will not be encountered as frequently.

It’s not like Mojang can update legacy versions (1.7.10, 1.8.9 etc,) so we are at little risk of this feature existing in most of the versions we use at the moment, but, there is always a chance that there will be an external implementation of this feature that works via Minecraft.net.

In short, don’t worry about it. Cheating is only a bannable offense by the server, not Mojang. Read the Microsoft Article if you still have any doubts about anything.
